“Rehab has always been in the heart and soul of why I became a nurse in the first place. We get to nurture and care for the whole patient and their family. Some nursing you see a patient for one shift and you never see them again. Here in rehab, you have some time to get to know your patients. You see them come in scared and worried about what their new norm will be. You get to talk to them and their families about their ups and downs, get to show them that YES they are making progress. You get to help the family learn how to care for their loved ones, see them gaining confidence that things will be doable.

There is no greater joy than to have a patient that came in totally dependent on people to care for them turn around and walk out the door on the day of discharge, just a relatively short time later. That is why I get up every day and LOVE saying ‘yes’ to this job every day!”
